                        The Maharashtra State Road Transportation Corporation, the state run bus service of Maharashtra has over 16,000 buses which ferries around seven million passengers daily on 18,700 routes. The service is known to be widespread and in metro cities it is equal to the lifeline of people who commute daily. They also provide luxury bus services for outstation journeys. They are also known to break their schedules and have gone out of their way to serve its people.During the Navratri festival, the Kolhapur division of MSRTC provided extra bus services to people. Kolhapur is one of the biggest pilgrimage site because of the Mahalaxmi temple and since the temple  attracts lakhs of people during the nine day festival, MSRTC increased the services.
